Attorney
For more than two decades, Attorney Christopher A. Likens has built his elder law practice around one guiding principle — that a lawyer should be a trusted resource for families, not just a provider of documents. Mr. Likens’ journey in law began in high school, when he worked for a small firm in St. Petersburg, Florida. He saw firsthand how clients relied on their lawyers not only for legal matters but also for support in everyday life. When a widow needed a repair done, she often called her lawyer first — and Mr. Likens was the one who would sit with her while the repair was made.
“I really liked the idea that a lawyer could be the community’s resource person — someone who helps the family, not just with legal issues but with life’s transitions,” Mr. Likens recalls.
After earning his law degree, Mr. Likens founded his elder law practice on that same philosophy of care and connection. He works closely with each client to understand their unique needs, helping families navigate the complexities of aging, long-term care, and asset protection with clarity and compassion. As the field of elder law has evolved — particularly with the changing landscape of Medicaid and retirement planning — Mr. Likens has continued to adapt his practice to serve clients at every stage of life.
“There’s a lot of living that happens between retirement and passing on one’s legacy,” he says. “My work is about making that journey as smooth and meaningful as possible.”
