Christopher A. Likens is a Board Certified Elder Law Attorney based in Sarasota, Florida. His practice focuses on estate planning, long-term care planning, and special needs planning for individuals and families.
A dedicated advocate for seniors and their loved ones, Mr. Likens has practiced elder law for over two decades and helped shape the field’s development in Florida. He is a member of the Florida Bar, Sarasota County Bar Association, the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys (AFELA), and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). He has served as Chair of the Florida Bar Elder Law Section, Chair of the Elder Law Certification Committee, and Co-Chair of the Section’s Public Policy Task Force.

In addition to his law practice, Mr. Likens serves as an Adjunct Professor at Stetson University College of Law, teaching in both the J.D. and Elder Law LL.M. programs. He is a past president of the Area Agency on Aging for District Eight, has served on the state board of the Florida Council on Aging (FCOA), and frequently lectures on long-term care, Medicaid, and special needs planning. His commentary has appeared on NPR and CNN, and he is the co-author of Planning for the Elderly in Florida.
Mr. Likens earned his B.A. from the University of South Florida and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law. He lives in Sarasota with his wife, Christine, and their four children — Calvin, Kayleigh, Kip, and Cooper.
